Shut the Cluck Up

This past weekend my girlfriends and I visited the acclaimed bachelorette capital of the US- Nashville. This trip was one of my favorite trips by far, from the food, to the culture, to the music, and of course the company I had.

Although I went to experience the music and rooftops, this post is going to be about the amazing food in Nashville! My best friend Makenzie is a foodie at heart, and of course made us reservations at the most amazing places (thank you Kenz). Below are my top five places!

This was my top choice. We went for Sunday brunch and if I could brunch there every weekend I would in a heartbeat. Their famous dish is whipped feta with honey and pita (pictured above). I ordered the B & B Biscuit which was a biscuit topped with their whipped feta, honey butter, avocado, and scrambled eggs. Butcher and Bee has an onsite pastry chef, and after tasting that biscuit, I can understand why! It was the perfect texture and melts in your mouth. If you're planning a trip to Nashville, make sure this place is on your list!

This cute, eccentric, little hideout is definitely a must go for people who like experiential dining. Their menu might be small but each item is packed with intense flavor. I ordered the Stracciatella toast with celery and red bud blossom as my appetizer. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty with complimentary floral notes. My main entree was their Gemelli, hazelnut, nettle, and Thai basil pasta. The hazelnuts had a strong presence but didn't overpower the dish. It complemented the Thai basil sauce and handmade pasta.

If you love sweets, this chain is for you! Their menu is crafted with all of the sugary goodness one could dream of! I ordered the bonuts (pictured above) which are deep fried biscuit dough tossed in sugar, topped with lemon mascarpone served over a blueberry compote. These five biscuit-donuts are a dentist's nightmare, but my paradise. A similar dish with a different base was the Lily; this is their buttermilk biscuit french toast with lemon mascarpone and blueberry compote. Makenzie ordered this one and it was just as good as the bonuts.

I had never heard of "hot chicken" before and thought my friends were referring to fresh out-of-the-oven chicken that was steaming hot. Little did I know, hot chicken is a fried Nashville specialty. It is fried chicken coated in a hot sauce (level of heat is your choosing). Those of you who know me, know that I love spice but mild to me is medium-hot to others. Since I have a low tolerance, I went with the Mild sauce which they described as a "touch of heat." I wanted a kick but also wanted to enjoy the food! My nose was definitely running but it was just as good as everyone made it out to be and the line for the place confirmed it. The hot meter ran from Southern (no heat) to "Shut the Cluck Up!!!" (burn notice) so for those of you who are daring - definitely try this with more heat!

This rooftop was our last stop before the airport! We could not have ended on a more perfect note. The last decision I had to make was between their frosé or their cereal milk ice cream sandwich. Staying on brand, I went with the non-alcoholic sugar and definitely made the right choice (although the frosé looked amazing). The ice cream sandwich was cereal milk sandwiched between two layers of lemon cake, topped and coated with fruity pebbles, and filled with fruit-loops and sprinkles. If eating this magical creation on a rooftop overlooking Nashville doesn't get you booking a flight, I am not sure what will.

There were many other great places we ventured to on the trip, but if I included them all,

this post would never end...
